Why We Work This Way

Chronova was shaped by the projects standard suppliers were unwilling to attempt.

Section A

The Project That Changed the Company

Chronova's manufacturing story began in 2014.

One year later, an early project changed the direction of the company.

The brief was a magnesium alloy watch case with threaded top-and-bottom construction, four side pushers, a crown, and a 20 ATM water-resistance requirement.

Even by today's standards, that combination would still be difficult. Magnesium alloy has its own material limits, threaded case construction demands tight control, and every pusher or crown creates another sealing point that must survive pressure testing.

At the time, Chronova was still closer to an assembly company than a fully integrated manufacturer. The external case suppliers we approached gave the same answer: the structure was too difficult, the material was unforgiving, and the project should not be accepted.

That response became the turning point.

We needed the order, but more than that, we wanted to understand whether the barrier was real — or whether it only existed because no one was willing to study it properly.

Instead of walking away, we brought the problem in-house. We bought machines, developed case-making capability, and began learning the difficult parts of manufacturing directly.

The project later became a high-volume account, reaching over 150,000 units in a year. More importantly, it changed how Chronova saw every future obstacle.

A rejected brief was no longer just a problem. It became a chance to build a better version of the company.

That attitude still shapes Chronova today.

When a client's vision is too difficult for the standard route, Chronova helps explore whether there is another path — one that can turn an ambitious idea into a real watch.

Section B

Not for every project

We are not the right manufacturer for every watch project.

If the goal is only the lowest possible price for a standard catalogue watch, another supplier may be a better fit.

Chronova is most useful when the project carries ambition, difficulty, or a technical question worth studying.

What We Value

V.01

Advance the Material Frontier

Chronova is already recognised for sapphire and sapphire-like watch structures. We continue to invest in rare, difficult, and exceptional materials so brands can access new possibilities in cases, dials, surfaces, and components.

V.02

Capability Before Claim

Recognition should be earned through capability. We would rather prove what we can make than overstate what we can promise.

V.03

Good Work Needs Good People

Difficult projects require trust, patience, respect, and clear communication. We choose to work with people who value the process as much as the result.

V.04

Long Relationships

Chronova was built through referrals and long-term clients. We value relationships where the conversation goes beyond price and delivery, into ambition, constraint, trust, and what the client is really trying to build.

If your project belongs in the difficult column, we would like to hear about it.
